British writer-director, and ex-Mr. Madonna, Guy Ritchie heralded his arrival to filmmaking with a bang, actually several, and gave the world a new kind of super-stylized gangster in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He breezed by the sophomore curse with the cunning, violent and viciously funny Snatch and then, well, made Swept Away. With RDJ and Jude Law in his corner, it seems Ritchie is poised for mainstream success - question is, will Sherlock Holmes do the trick?
