If 2009 was the year of the vampire, and shape-shifting robots from outer space, what does 2010 have in store for audiences? A trip down the rabbit hole, more sex and the city, another dose of boy wizard and a few different takes on teen angst. Check out our guide to just some of the movies coming your way over the next twelve months.
We want to know what YOU think! Vote HERE for what film you're most looking to and sound off in the comments below!
Title: Daybreakers
Studio: Maple
Release date: January 8, 2010
Buzz: A vampire movie for the over-25 set, this futuristic sci-fi tale takes place in a world where a plague has transformed almost every human into a bloodsucker – almost. A rogue group of revolutionaries, including Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke, band together to try and save humanity from certain doom after the blood supply threatens to run out. Eerie and appropriately macabre, this horror mash-up promises to be plenty scary.
Title: Youth in Revolt
Studio: Alliance
Release date: January 8, 2010
Buzz: Start the New Year off right with Miguel Arteta’s adaptation of the popular C.D. Payne book that follows tragically virginal Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) who longs for a life outside of sexual frustration and his trailer park digs. The fiercely intelligent teenager meets his match in Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) the lovely girl next door who brings out the baddie him and invokes the most mature and nuanced performance yet by the ever-impressive Cera. A stellar supporting cast (Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, Jean Smart, Justin Long) and a spot-on soundtrack make this one a must-watch.
Title: Legion
Studio: Sony
Release date: January 22, 2010
Buzz: Anything with Paul Bettany should pique your interest immediately but Paul Bettany as an archangel in a film about a group of strangers who unwittingly become humanity's last line of defense during a biblical apocalypse? Pretty much required viewing.
Title: The Wolfman
Studio: Universal
Release date: February 12, 2010
Buzz: With all the fuss around vampires these days, some other classic monsters have been completely overshadowed. Come the beginning of February, the werewolf is poised to step back into the spotlight with this classic tale starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. Released just in time for Valentine's Day, this might be the perfect scary movie for date night!
Title: Shutter Island
Studio: Paramount
Release date: February 19, 2010
Buzz: Martin Scorsese. Leonardo Di Caprio. Pretty much enough said, right? Though the film's release date was moved from this past October to early 2010, thus pulling it out of award season eligibility, it has been getting nothing but positive early buzz. It follows a pair of U.S. Marshals (Mark Ruffalo and DiCaprio) as they race against the clock in order to track an escaped patient (Emily Mortimer) from the Shutter Island mental hospital. This one looks downright terrifying.
Title: Alice in Wonderland
Studio: Disney
Release date: March 5, 2010
Buzz: Tim Burton meets Lewis Carroll with a little Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter thrown in? That just might be the most exciting combination of the spring. The film isn't a straight retelling of the classic tale but rather follows 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny.
Title: Remember Me
Studio: E1
Release date: March 12, 2010
Buzz: RPattz loses the coloured contacts and ivory pallor for this drama that follows two kindred spirits trying to make a connection amidst various family disruptions and disapproval. Co-starring Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper as the lead characters’ respective fathers and written by Jenny Lumet, who penned the excellent Rachel Getting Married, this film has some serious top-tier pedigree. The trailer shows a tortured, though still pretty, Pattinson emoting his heart out – a significant leap from his stoic role as Edward Cullen - in a film that looks to be the British hottie's break into the world of more mature, artistic pieces. One to watch out for.
Title: Date Night
Studio: Fox
Release date: April 9, 2010
Buzz: As one who routinely worships at the altar of Miss Tina Fey, adding in a heaping side of Steve Carell and a dash of Mila Kunis, James Franco and Mark Wahlberg sounds like a delicious combination. Carell and Fey play a couple who find themselves in a bit of a romantic funk and plan to shake up their matrimonial routine with a nice night out that turns into something out of Training Day. Watch the trailer and try NOT to smile.
Title: MacGruber
Studio: Universal
Release date:April 16, 2010
Buzz: It's been awhile since an SNL character has made the leap from the small screen to the silver screen but that's exactly where Will Forte is set to take his hilarious spoof on MacGyver. SNL films have been hit and miss in the past but early screenings have given this one a positive spin before it even hits theatres.
Title: Iron Man 2
Studio: Paramount
Release date: May 7, 2010
Buzz: The summer movie season begins with the return of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James Rhodes (this time out played by Don Cheadle). With Jon Favreau again behind the wheel and Justin Theroux once again behind the screenplay, Marvel is hoping they can strike gold twice. If the trailer is any indication, they may be well on their way!
Title: The Trotsky
Studio: Alliance
Release date: May 14, 2010
Buzz: This Montreal-set high school flick combines the pluck and charm of Rushmore with a heavy dose of Canadiana and succeeds thanks in part to its star, Judd Apatow fave and fiercely proud Canuck ,Jay Baruchel, who embodies the petulant 17-year-old who thinks he’s the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky. Brazenly funny and plenty clever, this one promises to be a homegrown favourite.
Title: Sex and the City 2
Studio: Warner Bros.
Release date: May 28, 2010
Buzz: Call it the return of fabulous - the lovely ladies of Sex and the City are back for another high-fashion adventure. Sarah Jessica Parker leads the impeccably dressed cast, including Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Chris Noth and Jason Lewis as they deal with marriage, infidelity, financial setbacks and of course, clothes! Decide what to wear to the premiere now before the movie opens next summer.
Title: Toy Story 3
Studio: Disney
Release date: June 18, 2010
Buzz: Buzz and Woody are back and the film gives a whole new generation of kids (and their parents) the chance to get acquainted with the plastic twosome and their band of ragtag toy friends. With Ken and Barbie along for the ride (voiced by Michael Keaton and Jodi Benson respectively), this one looks poised to recreate the magic of the first two outings.

Title: Twilight Eclipse
Studio: E1
Release date: July 2, 2010
Buzz: The world of vampires, werewolves and mortals gets even juicier in the third installment of Stephenie Meyer’s teen fantasy series. Bella has more tough choices ahead and Edward has an evil, vengeful female vampire to contend with. Who doesn’t love a little drama?
Title: Wall Street 2
Studio: Fox
Release date: July 2, 2010
Buzz: Given the current state of the economy, it is perhaps not a surprise that Oliver Stone chose next year to release the sequel to his hit 1987 film. Starring Michael Douglas, who won an Oscar for his first turn as greed god Gordon Gekko, and 'it' actors Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan, will Stone be able to recreate the success of the original? Only time, and box office receipts, will tell.
Title: Inception
Studio: Warner Bros.
Release date: July 16, 2010
Buzz: Details surrounding Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to The Dark Knight have been kept rather quiet, creating the kind of hype that emerges from feverish anticipation. A tense teaser trailer, striking poster and nifty website serve as the only hints to what audiences can expect from Nolan’s sci-fi thriller about a mega businessman who gets involved in some serious blackmailing where, so goes the tagline, ‘Your mind is the scene of the crime’. Insert equally freaked out/impressed shudder here.
Title: Dinner for Schmucks
Studio: Paramount
Release date: July 23, 2010
Buzz: Zach Galifianakis teams up with Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Ron Livingston (remember him?) in this Jay Roach-directed (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers) remake of a French film about a man who challenges his friends to bring the stupidest person they know to a party for a little humiliation. With funnymen like this on board, this is one dinner you don’t want to miss.
Title: Salt
Studio: Sony
Release date: July 23, 2010
Buzz: Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen in this intense spy thriller helmed by Phillip Noyce and co-starring Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film was originally set to be directed by Michael Mann with the ubiquitous Tom Cruise attached to star as the CIA officer on the run. The gender lead switch-up has this one primed to be an intriguing and possibly original spin on the classic spy versus spy motif.
Title: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I
Studio: Warner Bros.
Release date: November 19, 2010
Buzz: This film's winter release marks the beginning of the end for J.K. Rowling's world of on-screen witchcraft and wizardry. There was so much story to tell and so many people to please that the author's final novel was split into two feature films, with the second set to hit theatres in July 2011. With the whole cast of familiar characters back for the finale, plus a few new faces, this first part is set to send Harry Potter out with a bang.
Title: Tron Legacy
Studio: Disney
Release date: December 17, 2010
Buzz: It’s been 25 years since we’ve seen Kevin Flynn and things have changed. Employing the same technologically-innovative aesthetic as the original Tron, part two finds Kevin’s son following in his dad’s footsteps and taking the plunge inside the increasingly dangerous world of video game programming, racing games and gladiatorial challenges where life and death hangs in the balance. With imaginative commercial director Joseph Kosinski behind the lens, the visuals promise to be wonderfully futuristic and equally avant-garde. Also, it stars Jeff Bridges.
That's just a taste of what you can expect in the new year. There's lots more coming your way so stay tuned!

@squidbrad and brn097 - Thanks so much for pointing that out. Not my proudest moment to be sure. Just coming out of the holiday craziness coma now and can't imagine where my mind was. Appreciate the catch!

"Anything with Paul Bettany should *peak* your interest..."
Nice guess but it's still incorrect. The copy content of a website really is the face of a company. Professionalism does make a difference to a bottom line.
It's one thing thing to make a mistake; it's another matter entirely to have no idea how to correct it.

".... Anything with Paul Bettany should *peek* your interest immediately." "Peek"? Really? You need a copy editor.
