10 Top Pop Culture Vamps

Spike (BtVS) and Bill Compton (True Blood)

Unless you've been living in a cave, you've probably noticed that vampires have taken over the entertainment industry. From TV to movies and "True Blood" to Twilight, they’re firmly in the spotlight (or dark shadows, as the case may be). But this vampire craze isn't exactly brand new since audiences have been fascinated with the undead ever since Bram Stoker put pen to paper and while they've repeatedly come to the forefront of pop culture, this latest wave may be the biggest one ever. In the next few months, there are three big movies headed to a theatre near you, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, New Moon and Daybreakers, that tread in the undead...and that's not even counting the numerous television dramas like 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'True Blood'!

So with sharp teeth and immortality on the brain, we count down the best of the beloved bloodsuckers who've captured our imaginations over the years. Did your favourite vamps make the list?

What would your list look like? Tell us below!

    • Let us not also forget: Chris Sarandon's "the burbs" -esq portrayl of a vampire in 'Fright Night'. Or even Salma Hayek in 'From Dusk Till Dawn' Though my personal fave vampire movie will always remain 'Near Dark' with Lance Henriksen & Bill Paxton.

    • What about Blade!?!
Probably one of the few vampires that you wanted to root for, mixed crazy action/martial sequences with a bit of comedy. Definately one of my favourite series and Wesley Snipes was an awesome choice for the role.
