Lefevre 'stunned' Howard has her role in 'Eclipse'

Bryce Dallas Howard is taking over as the villainous vampire Victoria in the third Twilight movie, but the actress who's played the part in the first two films says she was "stunned" and "hurt deeply" by the switch.
Rachelle Lefevre says she was unaware that Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the vampire saga, had chosen someone else to play her part in Eclipse. Summit announced Howard as her replacement late Tuesday, saying Lefevre had scheduling conflicts that would make her unable to participate in the production.
But Lefevre said Wednesday that she was "fully committed" to returning as Victoria. She says her involvement in the drama Barney's Version, starring Paul Giamatti and Dustin Hoffman, would only last 10 days.
"I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules," she said in a lengthy statement.
"Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap."
Summit did not have an immediate response to Lefevre's comments.
Though new to the Twilight franchise, the 28-year-old Howard is no stranger to blockbusters, having co-starred in Spider-Man 3 and Terminator Salvation. She also appeared in The Village and Lady in the Water.
Eclipse, based on the third book in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" saga, is scheduled to begin shooting in Vancouver in August. Part two, New Moon, comes out Nov. 20.

It's a real dissapointment to hear that any cast member has to be replaced for any reason but one that is so vital to such a wide known production such as "Twilight" it is a sad mistake on the one has made this choice and as a fan myself I know others are not going to appreciate it or take to comfortable to the change!....you will be missed Rachelle Lefevre and good luck!

I'M VERY ANGRY!!!!!! How could you guys like common, the whole cast deserves to be together including Rachelle!!!! This is an out rage, I personally hate it when companies replace people when they should never be replaced unless they die!!! Which Rachelle is not dead so to do this I have less respect for Summit Entertainment now

It SUCKS that they are doing this & I predict it will show in sales. Why in the world would these so-called "professionals" do this? I think Miss Howard is a wonderful actress but I don't think this will help her career in any way b/c the powers that be are putting her out there in front of the public while they hide behind the movie, this won't help her at all!

Like seriously, I am a big fan of the twilight series, and I think that they are making a huge mistake by replacing Rachelle with Bryce. In my opinion, i think that it is too late into the series to cahnge her, and quite frankly, I like her; she fits the role. I strongly think that they should reconsider that change . . . It's really pretty stupid.

I haven't seen Twilight yet, but I seriously think they're making a mistake. I mean, c'mon, I would want to see the same person in the same role throughout. Look at the Harry Potter series, if they had changed any one of the main characters were replaced, I don't think it would work.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, like Batman. Some actors worked, some actors didn't.
