- Downey Jr. signs up for a date with Galifianakis
Robert Downey Jr. may have spent the past few days promoting two of his big upcoming films (Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man 2) in front of appreciate audiences of fans and industry-types at Comic-Con but he was also making Hollywood headlines for his latest announced project. Variety broke the news that Downey Jr. will star alongside Zach Galifianakis in Due Date, a Todd Phillips-directed comedy set to begin shooting this fall. While RDJ is reveling in what is arguably the biggest acting comeback in big-screen history, Phillips and Galifianakis are fresh off their own recent success story. Their hit comedy The Hangover has just recently become the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all-time. The new comedy, which Phillips calls "a buddy comedy without the buddies," will see Downey play an expectant father racing to make it across country to the birth of his first child. Galifianakis is set to play Downey's mismatched road trip mate.

Mr. Fox

- Fox gets set to wow London crowds Wes Anderson's stop-motion animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox is set to open the 53rd London Film Festival in October. The family film, based on Roald Dahl's children's book, follows a community of burrowing animals who battle a trio of evil farmers. It features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Michael Gambon, among others, and will have its world premiere to open the prestigious festival across the pond.

- Kong to get sequel treatment? Despite the relatively lukewarm reception for Peter Jackson's epic remake of the classic King Kong tale, it appears there's a sequel in the works. Variety reports that Spirit has acquired the rights to the prequel book "Kong: King of Skull Island," which hit shelves while Jackson's epic was in production. The book focuses on the life of the great beast prior to his unfortunate encounter with the beauty of legend. The film is still very much in the development stage and so it's no surprise that a director or cast have yet to sign on.
