A Christmas Carol

This ain't your dad's Dickens Cineplex was among a small group of media folks and industry insiders who were invited to a sneak peek of Disney's A Christmas Carol in Toronto today, where the heat outside was met by jacketed carolers and festive treats inside. A handful of nearly-completed scenes from Robert Zemeckis' forthcoming film showed an almost-unrecognizable Jim Carrey, who, as the movie's chameleonic star, appears in no less than four roles. Employing the same stop-motion technology that he introduced in The Polar Express, Zemeckis has crafted a realistic-yet-whimsical look at the classic cautionary tale, amped up with the help of IMAX 3D. The selected scenes included a talk between curmudgeonly Scrooge (Carrey) and his doe-eyed, holiday-happy nephew Fred (Colin Firth, natch) and our trusty antagonist being visited by his old co-worker Marley (Gary Oldman) whose ragged clothing, rattling chains and words of warning have been taken to new and slightly terrifying heights. A family tale with a twist that will likely enthrall adults as much as the kids. Make sure to stay tuned to cineplex.com for trailers and more from the upcoming film.

Ryan O'Neal plans to marry Farrah Fawcett The 68-year-old actor told Barbara Walters that he plans to marry his longtime companion and the mother of his son 24-year-old Redmond as "soon as she can say yes." Farrah Fawcett's battle with anal cancer has become rather public since her condition worsened and the cancer spread to her liver. Diagnosed in 2006, O'Neal says that Fawcett is now "fighting for her life" but he still plans on tying the knot with the "Charlie's Angels" star.

MMVA after-party punch-up! While the yearly MuchMusic music award show went off without a hitch last night, the same can't be said for the events at one of the after-parties. Infamous celeb blogger Perez Hilton got into an altercation with the Black Eyed Peas and ended up with a black eye from Polo Malina, the band's manager. Hilton, born Mario Lavandeira, claims to have gotten into an argument with band members Fergie and will.i.am outside of Cobra nightclub in downtown Toronto when he was punched by Molina. Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella says the manager has since turned himself in and has been charged with assault. Hilton first reported the assault not to the police but to his fans via his Twitter feed, claiming in a 4 a.m. posting that: "I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke." You may be asking yourselves why he choose to tweet that instead of dialing 911 himself. You're not alone. Although the blogger has yet to comment on that aspect of the brouhaha, if you're at all familiar with him, the answer is pretty much self-evident.
