Harold & Kumar

-- Harold and Kumar to celebrate Christmas..with weed? Even though one-half of everyone's favourite Gen Y reefer happy duo has taken a sweet gig at the White House, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have confirmed that they're developing a third Harold & Kumar flick. That means more of John Cho (Harold) and Kal Penn (Kumar) and perhaps most importantly, more of NPH. Warner Bros. will release A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas on November 5, 2010. While Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay was full of lazy, uber-obvious humour, even for a pot movie, perhaps the third time will be a charm for this cult favourite franchise.

-- Another crash near set of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Barely two days after a chase-stunt-gone-wrong led to two injuries on the Times Square set of Nicolas Cage's latest film The Sorcerer's Apprentice, nine people have reportedly suffered minor injuries after an SUV hit a parked car near the movie set. The driver apparently told on-scene reporters that she hit a parked car to avoid hitting a taxi and both vehicles subsequently jumped the curb, running into crew members. While it's not clear how many of the injured are involved with the film itself, I give it one more mishap until the set is officially deemed cursed.

-- Katie Holmes isn't afraid of the dark According to Variety, Mrs. Tom Cruise is set to step back in front of the camera for the Guillermo del Toro-scripted thriller Don't be Afraid of the Dark. The mind behind Pan's Labyrinth shares his co-writing duties with Matthew Robbins and plans to produce alongside Mark Johnson. Based on a 1973 ABC telefilm, Dark follows a young girl who moves in with her father and girlfriend (Holmes) and soon discovers that the house they're sharing is rife with, you guessed it, evil creatures. Although this premise is hackneyed at best, del Toro has a fertile imagination and if anyone can make this material rise above cliches, it's him. The film is set to start shooting this summer in Melbourne with del Toro protégé Troy Nixey directing.
