-- Deadpool spin-off given the green light. Perhaps it's not surprising given the $87 million that Wolverine brought in on its opening weekend, but Fox has already given the go ahead for development on a spinoff that will be crafted around Ryan Reynolds' character from the film. One of the most popular characters to inhabit the X-Men universe, Deadpool is a mercenary who, terminally ill, volunteers to be a part of the Weapon X experiment and emerges as the ultimate anti-hero - not quite sane or insane, truly inhabiting the grey area of society. This marks the fourth in development X-Men film at Fox as they are already working on a sequel to Wolverine, an origin story of villain Magneto and another titled X-Men: First Class. The film will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel.

-- Marvel Studios gives us a first look at Iron Man 2. The follow-up to the wildly successful 2008 movie starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow is in production in California but Marvel decided to give us a glimpse into the film with this newly released image. In addition to the returning stars and director Jon Favreau, the sequel boasts a cast that includes Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle. The film is due to hit theatres on May 7, 2010.
