- 007 and Wolverine set to hit Broadway! Fresh off his second turn as suave super-spy James Bond, Daniel Craig is set to tread the boards on Broadway with fellow actor and big screen star Hugh Jackman. According to The New York Post, the two actors are set to star in a play titled “A Steady Rain” sometime this fall. The heavy drama focuses on the story of two Chicago cops whose friendship is put to the test by a domestic violence case. Jackman, best known to audiences as Wolverine, is no stranger to the Great White Way having wowed audiences and critics alike in 2004 with his Tony Award-winning role in the musical “The Boy From Oz”. The play, however, will mark Craig’s stage debut in North America. I don’t know about you guys, but 007 and Wolverine on the same stage? Possibly in uniform? I think this calls for a road trip!
- From Scooby-Doo to CTU! I don’t think I’m alone in saying Freddie Prinze Jr. had kind of fallen off my radar. The actor, who is expecting his first child with wife Sarah Michelle Gellar, has been largely absent from the big and small screen since 2004's Scooby Doo sequel and his unsuccessful self-titled ABC sitcom in '05. So imagine my surprise when I saw that Fox producers have tapped him to star opposite Kiefer Sutherland (aka Jack Bauer) in the next season of their smash hit “24”. The actor, best known for lighter fare, is scheduled to take on the role of the new head of field ops for the battered (but never broken) Counter Terrorist Unit. Fans of the show aren’t happy about the move, or so the outrage on fan boards would indicate, but characters on this show tend to be very short-lived, so we’ll see if he lasts more than a few episodes. Also signing on as part of the season eight cast are Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire), Canadian Chris Diamantopoulos ("The Starter Wife") and Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein).
- Kevin Smith gets two more for new film. Although shooting is set to begin Monday on Kevin Smith's latest movie, A Couple of Dicks, The Hollywood Reporter announced two last minute additions to the cast. Both Adam Brody (The O.C.) and Seann William Scott (Role Models, American Pie) have signed on to join Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in the buddy action comedy. The film follows a cop (Willis) and his partner (Morgan) as they encounter a memorabilia-obsessed gangster and rescue a damsel in distress worth millions in drug money. Brody is set to play a detective unhappy with the duo and Scott will appear as a thief known for the souvenirs he leaves at the scene of his crimes.
