Greg Mottola's Paul

-- Best. Cast. Ever. Greg Mottola, the man behind 2007 laffer Superbad and this year's funny and poignant Adventureland has lined up his next directorial effort, Paul , and a killer comedic cast has just been announced. Jason Bateman, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch will star in the comedy that follows two British geeks who, emboldened by a recent Comic Con trip, decide to visit Area 51 where they meet an alien named Paul, natch, who enlists them to help him escape from the government. Did we mention that screenwriting buddies Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (the duo from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) will be writing the script? Is there any way that this movie won't be funny? We think not.

-- Tragedy for the Tysons As we reported yesterday, Mike Tyson's four-year-old daughter Exodus was on life support after being accidentally choked by a cord hanging off a treadmill. Unfortunately, authorities had tragic news for the Tysons with Exodus succumbing to her injuries Tuesday, a day after the incident at her Phoenix home. In a statement, the family had this to say: "There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus. We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal."

-- Beastie Boys and Michel Gondry..together at last? You may or may not know that Ad Rock, MCA and Mike D - the Beastie Boys - are in the movie business, specifically via Oscilloscope Laboratories, their film brand, headed up by Adam Yauch (MCA), and responsible for the release of last year’s quiet masterpiece, and Toronto critic fave, Wendy & Lucy . Well, they are and it’s just been revealed that Michel Gondry’s latest effort, fresh from a screening at the Cannes Film Festival, will see distribution through their label. The French auteur's film, a documentary called L'Epine dans le coeur, follows the relationship between Suzette, one of Gondry's aunts, and her son Jean-Yves, and provides a look at rural life in France. Gondry was apparently beside himself when he found out the news and was quoted by Empire as saying: "So I called up my best friend Etienne and told him, 'Guess who's distributing my documentary about my aunt?' and he said, 'who?' and I said, 'MCA from Beastie Boys' and Etienne said, 'The Beastie Boy bought your Aunt's documentary?! Get the f--- out of here!' and I said, 'Yeah!!!'” How cute is that?
