-- Gerard Butler charged with battery The 300 star got tangled up with the paparazzi while at the premiere of his film RocknRolla and now faces misdemeanor battery charges. L.A. city prosecutors have charged the burly Scotsman in connection with the incident and a spokesman told AP that Butler could face up to six months in jail if convicted. After leaving the Hollywood premiere of the Guy Ritchie-directed film on October 7, Butler had a run-in with a photog, though specific details weren't provided. His attorney Blair Berk said that the actor won't appear in court on the charge. Butler will next be seen in the rom-com The Ugly Truth alongside "Grey’s Anatomy" alum Katherine Heigl.
-- Gilliam tries for Quixote - again I'm all about giving credit where credit is due and you can't help but admire Terry Gilliam's moxie. Almost a decade after his attempt to film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote went astray thanks to bad weather and health problems, the acclaimed director is giving it another go. Famously documented in the 2002 doc Lost in La Mancha , Gilliam's passion project was derailed at every turn until he had to reluctantly call it quits - until now. Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, who contributed to the first version, have re-written the script and updated the story, which, according to Variety, "will revolve around a filmmaker who is charmed into joining Don Quixote's eternal quest for his ladylove, becoming an unwitting Sancho Panza." Gilliam is also in talks with Johnny Depp, who was cast as a time-travelling ad exec in the first ill-fated attempt, although scheduling concerns could prove to be an issue, while the lead role of Don Quixote has yet to be nailed down. Gilliam hopes to begin filming next spring.
Pretty lady Olivia Wilde
-- Move over Megan Fox The Transformers beauty (and Angelina Jolie look-alike) is no longer the hottest women alive, with that title now going to “House” player Olivia Wilde, who shot to the top from her spot at #98 last year. The stunning brunette (who's previously appeared in Alpha Dog and, ahem Turistas, as well as "The O.C.") tops Maxim's Hot 100 list, besting Fox, who slipped down to second place, followed by Leo's main squeeze, model Bar Rafaeli, Malin Akerman, Mila Kunis, Eliza Dushku, Adriana Lima, Rihanna, Jordana Brewster and, edging into the top 10, Jennifer Love Hewitt - don't worry, we were surprised too. Wilde, 25, has enjoyed a higher profile since starring as the sexually liberated Thirteen alongside Hugh Laurie and Omar Epps on the hit Fox medical drama and will next appear as the object of Jack Black's affection in the upcoming comedy Year One . What do you think of the Hot 100 List?
-- Lindsay Lohan to act in a movie The chronically pantsless, mercilessly photographed LiLo has done the unthinkable - she's signed on to act in a movie. Taking a role in the indie-fantasy-comedy The Other Side, she's set to play a grad student who has to spend the summer in a remote island community amongst an eccentric group of locals who are mysteriously hiding a secret about a long-ago tragedy...erm, right. The flick also stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews (yes, that one) and, wait for it, Alanis Morissette. David Micheals (Happy, Texas) and Phil Reeves are co-writing the film, which will see Reeves make his directorial debut. This is Lohan's first acting gig since *I Know Who Killed Me8, a piece of disposable pole-dancing mystery-fiction that was willfully ignored by movie-going audiences everywhere. Though this one doesn't exactly scream Oscar either, if LaLohan can tap into her comedic abilities and latent acting chops, we may have a Mean Girls -like success on our hands – or not. Why do I always route for the underdog?
