Michael Caine: A Career in Pictures

Film legend Michael Caine received ShoWest's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala Thursday evening at the Las Vegas-based festival.

The actor told Variety that although he is delighted by the award, it does not mean he is ready to retire from the big screen anytime soon - if ever. He'd much rather continue working at his craft until he "fades away, like an old soldier" - great news for movie fans everywhere. (Watch the trailer for his latest film, Is Anybody There?) After over 100 films and countless awards (including 2 Best Supporting Actor Oscar nods), it's hard to imagine a world of film without the talented actor or his immediately recognizable (and often imitated) Cockney accent.

Married for 36 years and knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2000, Sir Michael also holds the distinction of being one of only two actors to be nominated for an Academy Award in every decade since the 1960's (the other honour is held by Jack Nicholson.)
