Is the world ready for another dysfunctional family quirk-fest? The good people behind the forthcoming pic Peep World certainly hope so and are rounding out the cast with top-tier talent, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Everyone's favourite forensic scientist/serial killer-with-a-conscience Michael C. Hall (of HBO's “Dexter”) and Upright Citizens Brigade alum Ben Schwartz have signed on to star in the film, which follows a group of feuding siblings who are seriously irked after one of them writes a thinly-veiled novel about the family.
Although this storyline may not be wholly original (Woody Allen's underrated Deconstructing Harry immediately comes to mind) news that the fearless and foul-mouthed Sarah Silverman and the man behind Dunder-Mifflin's sycophantic uber-nerd - Rainn Wilson - are in negotiations to join the cast bodes well for this film to skew heavy on the awkward and absurd.
Former SNL scribe and long-time Eddie Murphy collaborator Barry Blaustein – he wrote Coming to America, Boomerang and The Nutty Professor –is set to direct; his first feature since helming The Ringer in 2005.
As for who will be composing the hopefully quick-witted banter and scathing digs for this able cast, IMDB has Peter Himmelstein listed as the writer - apparently making his screenwriting debut.
This is just the latest casting news for a group of actors who have no shortage of work between them.
Hall has already signed on to star in the futuristic thriller Game, while Silverman will soon start the third season of her irreverent “The Sarah Silverman Program” and star in the comedy Saint John of Las Vegas.
Wilson continues to bring the funny with his role on “The Office” and will play a professor in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Schwartz counts Nia Vardalos' I Hate Valentine's Day and Everybody’s Fine among his upcoming projects.
No word yet on when production for Peep World is expected to begin.
