-- The Jonas Brothers win big at The Kids' Choice Awards! Or at least I think they did...I couldn't hear over the screaming throngs of fans. The award show, hosted this year by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, honours favourites in 6 major categories: film, television, music, sports, books and games. Other big winners included Jack Black, Will Smith, Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, High School Musical 3, and Leonardo Di Caprio. Unofficial award for best 'sliming' of the telecast definitely has to go to Sandra Bullock and Hugh Jackman (presenting the Best Book award to the Twilight series) who got hit with the green stuff with such force, I'm impressed they were still standing. -- And across the pond, Sunday evening saw The Jameson Empire Awards being handed out in London. Always a glamorous evening of drinking, carousing and celebration for the mostly-British set of stars in attendance, the big winners of the night included Danny Boyle, Viggo Mortensen, Helena Bonham Carter, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe, while honoured films included Mamma Mia, Quantum of Solace, RockNRolla and The Dark Knight. -- Emma Stone (Superbad, The House Bunny) will star in a modern-day comedic adaptation of Hawthorne's classic novel "The Scarlett Letter". The film will find Stone's character finding parallels between her own chaotic, high school experience and Hester Prynne's treatment at the hands of a judgmental, puritanical town (and if that doesn't scream high school to you, then you had a better experience than I did). And no, you didn't read it wrong - Screen Gems is touting the project as a comedy! Here's hoping it's more 10 Things I Hate About You (an awesomely underrated film if ever there was one) and less bad 1997 remake with Gary Oldman and Demi Moore (which, let's face it, was pure yet unintentional farce). -- British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower (Sweeney Todd, RockNRolla) has said he has been cast to play Volturi leader Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. His character plays a key role in creating major problems for the massively popular lead duo, Edward and Bella, so I'd suggest Mr. Campbell-Bower might want to invest in some heavy-duty earplugs to prevent the screaming fans from permanently damaging his hearing. Just a suggestion. The film, an adaptation of book two from author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, is set to hit theatres in November. (Source: BBC)

-- Three time Academy Award-winning film composer, Maurice Jarre, has passed away at the age of 84. The composer, best known for his scores to such films as Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and Ghost, died Sunday of cancer in Los Angeles. (Source: AP)
