  • (continued from previous)...So far 2009 has been off to a good kick, some early releases like "The Wrestler" have been nominated. We're even seeing the release of what I think will be a celebration of Canadian culture "One Week". I'll be optimistic and hope for a better array of films this year.

  • (continued from previous)...Some years may have one film with a nominations sweep. This year we are seeing multiple films in the double digits of nominations. It all just makes me ask: Is that all there was in 2008?

  • I must say that this year's nominations are an example of how 2008 was slightly bleak for memorable movies. There were some greats, like the Reader, Revolutionary Road, and the rest. However, there is only a small posse of films pilling for all the awards.
