Valentine's Day contest

Thanks for all your entries and for sharing your best, and worst, Valentine's Day memories. We enjoyed them all but there can only be one winner and that honour goes to tippycanoe!

Congratulations!

Almost 9 yrs ago my hubby and i shared our 1st valentine's day together, he lived with roommates who didn't pay their part of the electricity bill, so we spent a romantic evening by candlelight listening to an enya cd via a battery operated boombox, sharing a small tub of my fav gourmet ice cream. A mortgage and a baby later, we still celebrate valentine's day with ice cream.

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and we’ve all had our share of memorable moments – some that touched our hearts or had us bolting for the door – on that annual occasion dedicated to all things love and like.

Now we want to hear about your MOST memorable Valentine’s Day!

It’s simple: log on as a mycineplex member and tell us, in 500 words or less, about a V-day story for the ages. The winning entry, to be chosen by the Cineplex.com editorial team, comes with a $100 shopping spree at the Cineplex store – and of course, bragging rights.

You can only enter once, so make it count. Don’t delay – contest ends Tuesday, February 17.

    • On Valentines I used the washrooms at a restaurant and got lost coming back up the stairwell. I reached a door that opened but it set off the ALARM!! I panicked and ran back to the bathrooms. I waited in the bathrooms hoping to feign surprise when I was rescued by hunky firemen attending the scene but the alarm was contained to the hallway and no evacuation ensued.

    • Valentine's Day changed forever in 2008 when my Mum passed away on Feb 15. I spent Feb 14th with family at the hospital holding her hand. I believe she waited until the 15th to leave us so that we could still enjoy the holiday in the coming years, and for that I thank her. This year I plan to mark this bittersweet holiday with family by having dinner and remembering the good times together.

    • My favorite Valentine's story - just because of its "sweetness" aspect - does not involve a boyfriend, husband or lover. It's from 12 years ago when the young man who was then the driver for the company I work for suddenly, out of the blue brought me 6 long stemmed red roses on Valentine's Day. The memory STILL to this day puts a smile on my face.
