Valentine's Day contest

Thanks for all your entries and for sharing your best, and worst, Valentine's Day memories. We enjoyed them all but there can only be one winner and that honour goes to tippycanoe!

Congratulations!

Almost 9 yrs ago my hubby and i shared our 1st valentine's day together, he lived with roommates who didn't pay their part of the electricity bill, so we spent a romantic evening by candlelight listening to an enya cd via a battery operated boombox, sharing a small tub of my fav gourmet ice cream. A mortgage and a baby later, we still celebrate valentine's day with ice cream.

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and we’ve all had our share of memorable moments – some that touched our hearts or had us bolting for the door – on that annual occasion dedicated to all things love and like.

Now we want to hear about your MOST memorable Valentine’s Day!

It’s simple: log on as a mycineplex member and tell us, in 500 words or less, about a V-day story for the ages. The winning entry, to be chosen by the Cineplex.com editorial team, comes with a $100 shopping spree at the Cineplex store – and of course, bragging rights.

You can only enter once, so make it count. Don’t delay – contest ends Tuesday, February 17.

    • My boyfriend at the time (now my husband) surprised me when I got to England to meet his family with a trip to London for Valentine's Day just for me and him. It was the best trip of my life!

    • The same year my husband and I bought our first house and got married I decided that we should save money on our wedding day not get the wedding band that went with my engagement ring. The valentine's day following our wedding day my husband came through the day with a huge balloon with what I thought was just a teddy bear inside, to my surprise I found my wedding band inside with the teddy bear.

    • Valentine's Day 1994 - my husband suggested we go watch the planes land at the airport, something we'd done ever since we'd met and become friends, long before we dated. It was here that he proposed - and it was romantic and unique and, well, just fitting since this was something from the beginning, too. To this day, we still stop there, reminisce, and dream.

    • My most memorable Valentine's Day was in 2004 when I flew to Vancouver with my best friend & husband (the same person!) to see John Mayer and Maroon 5 in concert at GM Place (in second row centre seats!) and it was capped off with fine food, champagne and a deluxe suite at the Fairmont Hotel.

    • At 43,I met a wonderful man.I wanted him to know how special he was so for Valentine's I wrote a story of how we met using text words and a lot of those candy hearts that have words on them.I glued them to cardboard & framed it.He loved it so much,he hung it on his wall.We have been together for 11 years and sadly, the candies have gone bad but he still has it and it makes us smile to look at it.
