Michael Cera makes movie under the radar

Michael Cera

Boy that George Michael Bluth is one sneaky dude.

Brampton wunderkind Michael Cera has apparently starred in and wrapped a quasi-doc called Paper Hearts while no one was looking.

The star of TV's critically lauded, and unjustly cancelled, “Arrested Development” and big-screen laughers Superbad and Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, has made a half-documentary, half-scripted comedy about his relationship with real-life girlfriend Charlyne Yi (who briefly appeared as the hippie stoner chick in Knocked Up), according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Cera fans won't likely find this type of flick a big departure for the Canuck funnyman, whose wonderfully silly web-com "Clark and Michael" found the thesp portraying a somewhat skewed version of himself to hilarious effect.

Nicholas Jasenovec, apparently a member of Judd Apatow's inner circle albeit a relatively unknown one, makes his directorial debut with Paper Hearts, set to premiere at next year's Sundance Film Festival, where excited word-of-mouth is already building.

Last week, Australian animated flick Mary and Max was announced as the 2009 Sundance opener, while the rest of the festival slate will be revealed December 3 and 4.

With talk of an “Arrested Development” film, in, well, arrested development, hopefully Paper Hearts will be able to provide a temporary Cera comedy fix.
