Antonio Banderas

Dali, he's so hot right now.

Along with previously announced Salvador Dali biopics Little Ashes and Dali & I, director Simon West (Lara Croft, Con Air) is taking on the mythical surrealist in Dali, with Antonio Banderas in final negotiations to play the title role

According to Variety.com, Dali, which has been in development for five years, will feature an amalgam of CGI and musical sequences to evoke the man’s rather unorthodox artistic side and the inventiveness of his craft. The story will take a look at how he captured the world's imagination "with sex, sin and surrealism" before falling from the general population's good graces with his share of scandals. The biopic will also look beyond his wild lifestyle and explore his relationship with wife and muse, Gala.

Cinematic incarnations of Dali are all over the board with Robert Pattinson, from Twilight pre-fame, playing the mustachioed one in Little Ashes and Al Pacino staring as the painter in Dali & I.

Dali is set to begin shooting in Spain and England in 2009 as an international co-production.

What do you think of this casting choice? Would Banderas make a good Dali or will Al Pacino steal the show? Who would you like to see cast as the master surrealist? Share your thoughts below!
