Jack Osbourne has scaled mountains, gone skydiving and trained with Shaolin monks on his show "Adrenaline Junkie" but he has his sights set on another, rather ambitious goal: bringing his father's complex and intimate rock 'n' roll journey to the big screen.

According to Variety, music video director Mike Piscitelli will helm the doc about famed Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, which will be the first film by the younger Osbourne's production company, Jacko Productions.

With the Prince of Darkness about to turn 60 in December, Jack saw the landmark birthday as an ideal time to reflect on his father's image and life, which he thought were whitewashed on their notorious MTV reality show, "The Osbournes".

"MTV couldn’t show the darkness and so they used all the goofy things, but that’s not really who he was at the time," Osbourne revealed. "Dad has been sober for three years, and I’ve never seen him more focused, honest and straight-up. He refuses to do a book, because he’s terribly dyslexic, can’t write and doesn’t want a ghostwriter, so I thought, why not make this his talking book?"

Along with archival concert footage, Jack has filmed his father's recent on-stage appearances and is planning an interview with Ozzy's first wife to offer a more complete look at the man behind macabre music.

"I want people to see John Osbourne as the guy I grew up with, the tormented, complex musician whose personal demons manifest themselves in so many crazy, unique ways," Osbourne said. "He’s agreed to it but is putting up his guard, massively afraid of putting his true self out there on display for people to see."

Osbourne said he plans to assemble the footage with Piscitelli and writer-producer Jordan Tappis before meeting with distributors.

He will serve as executive producer, alongside his mother and longtime Ozzy manager Sharon Osbourne, who are financing the film themselves.
