David Anders is gonna wish he had that samurai sword by the time all is said and done.

The ‘Heroes’ star, who played Takezo Kensei / Adam Monroe, has joined the cast of the Children of the Corn remake. The SciFi Channel made-for-TV film, which is slated to air in 2009, will also star Kandyse McClure (Officer Anastasia Dualla on ‘Battlestar Galactica’), Preston Bailey (Cody on ‘Dexter’) and Daniel Newman, states 'The Hollywood Reporter'.

Bailey will star as a young, small town preacher who demands that all adults be slain so that children can inherit the Earth. Newman will portray Bailey’s assistant: Malachai. Anders and McClure are the young couple who stumble across the Newman-led cult who worship an evil force residing in the town’s corn field.

Children of the Corn was originally a short story by Stephen King and part of his ‘Night Shift’ compilation. The story was made into a full-length feature film in 1984 starring Linda Hamilton. There have been six sequels since then. The SciFi Channel remake is being directed by Donald P. Borchers.
