Kilmer, Xzibit join cast of 'Bad Lieutenant' remake

An unlikely duo of actors has been added to the star-studded lineup set to hit the screen in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant remake, reports Variety.

Joining Eva Mendes and Nicolas Cage, as the titular bad cop originally brought to life by Harvey Keitel, will be Val Kilmer and rapper Xzibit, as Cage's partner and nemesis Big Fade, respectively.

The 1992 cult classic, helmed by Abel Ferrara, follows a drug-and-drink-addicted crooked cop who attempts to clean up his debaucherous lifestyle when investigating a particularly heinous crime.

Filming is set to begin in the late summer.
