Scully certainly wouldn't approve. David Duchovny, star of both the X-files TV show and the franchise's subsequent films, has voluntarily sought treatment for sex addiction, according to his lawyer.

Stanton "Larry" Stein told People magazine that Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility to address the problem.

Duchovny, 48, has recently scored rave reviews for his work on "Californication", where he stars as Hank Moody, a womanizing novelist with a serious case of writer's block who's in the midst of patching things up with his daughter and ex-girlfriend.

Duchovny has been married to actress Tea Leoni for over a decade and they have two children together.

He asked for time alone with his family during his treatment process through a statement to People magazine: "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
