"Beverly Hills 90210" fans have reason to rejoice as Shannen Doherty's return to that most notorious of zip codes has been confirmed, according to 'Entertainment Weekly'.

And just what kind of trouble will everyone's favourite bad girl be getting herself into on the CW's revamped series? Not all that much, it seems.

Doherty will be reprising her role as Brenda Walsh, the naughty half of the Brenda-Brandon twin set, who, after a successful run as a theatre actor and aspiring director in London, returns to WBH High as a guest director for one of the school's musical productions.

She joins previously announced returning '90210' alums Jennie Garth, who will play a school guidance counsellor, and Tori Spelling, whose Donna Martin now works as the owner of a posh boutique.

What may sound like rather tame roles for the matured old-school set will undoubtedly unspool into the high-drama, double-crossing storylines of yore with this juicy trifecta now firmly in place.
