A crucial bit of casting has been confirmed for Quentin Tarantino's much-hyped Inglorious Bastards remake, with Brad Pitt signing on to star in the WWII drama, reports 'Variety'.

Tarantino's long-awaited take on the 1978 Enzo Castellari flick, which starred Fred Williamson and Bo Svenson, follows resistance leader Lt. Aldo Raine (Pitt) who rounds up Jewish-American soldiers to take on the Nazis.

Though a significant amount of the movie's dialogue will be in German and French, Pitt's Southern solider will be speaking in English and is rumoured to be leading the likes of B.J. Novak (“The Office”), David Krumholtz (Superbad) and Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz).

In talks to play one of the film's few female roles is German-born beauty Nastassja Kinksi, who would play a German movie star and could be next in line for a career revival at the masterful hands of Tarantino.

Actor/director Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) has also recently signed on to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz in what's shaping up to be a star-studded ensemble flick.

Shooting is set to begin in Germany in October, with the hopes of being ready for the Cannes Film Festival, in May 2009.
