Ang Lee

He's taken on an angry green dude, made a boundary-breaking love story about cowboys and investigated what bad weather can do to people's morals. Now Oscar-winning director Ang Lee has his sights set on Woodstock.

According to 'Variety', Lee will direct Taking Woodstock, a big screen adaptation of Elliot Tiber's memoirs, detail his experiences helping his neighbour Max Yasgur host the historic 1969 music fest on his farm.

Tiber, an aspiring interior designer, found himself in the middle of a cultural watershed event when he volunteered his family motel in the Catskills as a home base for Woodstock organizers.

Adding to the pedigree of the film is an ensemble cast of talented young faces and stalwart comedians. Emile Hirsh (Into the Wild) will play a recently returned Vietnam vet, “The Daily Show” alum and comedian Demetri Martin stars as Tiber while Eugene Levy will star as Yasgur and Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) has signed on as one half of a hippie couple attending the festivities.

Focus Features are set to begin production later this month.
