Wanted: A highly creative gritty assassin movie.

Having seen the trailer, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this movie. I have to say I was quite captivated throughout this movie not only in the creative story but also in the way that it was filmed. It has some Matrix-esque effects in it, but not obviously so. The action keeps pouring out of this film and creates scenarios which you just wonder how they could possibly get out of them, but they do in fantastical ways no less. That's why this film is unique in that it successfully blends action, thriller and fantasy genres into one thrillride of a movie. It definitely lives up to it's 18A rating though, being sufficiently violent, but the punch it packs is well worth watching. Thumbs up!

This sequel in the Mummy series really tries hard to up the bar on special effects, so much so that the story almost becomes buried in the process. There's no mistaking the great lengths they went to, to try and make this movie stand out in the special effects department. Incredible scenes with incredible action and incredible sound to go along with it. If only they could have fleshed out the story a little more. Bottom line is that it feels more like a technology demonstration than a really good flick. The first movies in the Mummy series were much better in my opinion.

Tropic Thunder: A total waste of time

Seeing the trailer, I knew it would be a goofy movie, but I thought it would bring out more laughs than it actually did. I hardly heard any laughter from the audience. Quite a crazy movie that would only appeal to those who appreciate Ben Stiller's brand of "comedy". Thumbs down.
