Everything from the acting, direction, cinematography, music and sound effects make this movie a great film! For a historical film where the outcome is well known, the film surprisingly seems to keep up the suspense factor :-)
In the film Tom Cruise portrays Colonel Stauffenberg, who is recruited by a resistance movement within the ranks of the SS who want to see Hitler assassinated so that they can put in place a new leader in hopes of forging peace instead of continuing the war. Stauffenberg comes up with a plan to kill Hitler and enact Operation Valkyrie.
I give this film two thumbs up!
Up is a touching story of an old man who tries to fulfill the lifelong dream of him and his past wife of taking their house to the top of Paradise Falls in South America.
After the sad passing of his wife Ellie, Carl Fredricksen becomes a sad and grumpy old man, but while trying to avoid going to a retirement home after making a mistake of clubbing a construction worker over the head with his cane beccause he bumped a truck into his mailbox, Carl decides to inflates thousands of balloons and ties them to the room of his house which carries it up into the air and off on a grand adventure! Little does he know that the junior Wilderness Explorer named Russell has stowed away under his front porch.
I liked this movie allot because it shows that you're never too old to start a new adventure in life, and shows really great character development, with Carl going from a sad and selfish old man to learning how to be a considerate and caring individual throughout his journey! As for the graphics and 3D effects, well lets just say that it's another Pixar triumph, that brings this movie right up alongside the likes of Toy Story and Wall-E!
Terminator Salvation definitely delivers a continuation of the great Sci-Fi series, and this time without the Guvernator (well his likeness was used in a small cameo role but no speaking parts)!
The story continues into the future after Judgment Day in the year 2018, where the humans are in a deep war against the machines. John Connor tries to follow the advice that his mother Sarah left him in recorded messages about saving his father Kyle Reese and fulfilling the prophecy of leading the resistance into battle to defend humanity from Skynet.
During the battle Connor is trusted with testing a new technology that will hopefully enable human kind to shut down the machines once and for all and bring an end to this war, however things are not that simple as he must save his father and a bunch of human prisoners before humanity launches an all out assault on Skynet, which could cause a paradox that would cease his existence if his father is killed. Add to that the fact that he will have to decide on whether to trust a cyborg named Markus, who believes that he is still human. What is the right choice and will John Connor survive his first mission as leader of the resistance?
After watching this film I'd say that there are good and bad things about it, but definitely more good than bad. The good is that this movie delivers both non stop action and suspense with superb cinematography and visual effects. The bad is that it's a rather one sided storyline, but then again haven't all the previous Terminator films been that way?
I give this film two thumbs up!
Guinea Pigs with high tech espionage equipment that can speak? Geez I just hope that I don't start hearing voices from them in the pet shops now :-D
It's a whimsical film, full of silly humor with a bit of action mixed in. The story isn't all that great, but what the movie does have going for it is attitude. The furry characters have lots of personality and in a silly way you can't help but find them cute and lovable.
Silly movie for kids or light hearted adults who haven't forgotten their inner child :-P
I give this movie one and a three out of four paws up! =^.-=
