Terminator Salvation: Terminator Salvation delivers even without the Guvernator!

Terminator Salvation definitely delivers a continuation of the great Sci-Fi series, and this time without the Guvernator (well his likeness was used in a small cameo role but no speaking parts)! The story continues into the future after Judgment Day in the year 2018, where the humans are in a deep war against the machines. John Connor tries to follow the advice that his mother Sarah left him in recorded messages about saving his father Kyle Reese and fulfilling the prophecy of leading the resistance into battle to defend humanity from Skynet. During the battle Connor is trusted with testing a new technology that will hopefully enable human kind to shut down the machines once and for all and bring an end to this war, however things are not that simple as he must save his father and a bunch of human prisoners before humanity launches an all out assault on Skynet, which could cause a paradox that would cease his existence if his father is killed. Add to that the fact that he will have to decide on whether to trust a cyborg named Markus, who believes that he is still human. What is the right choice and will John Connor survive his first mission as leader of the resistance? After watching this film I'd say that there are good and bad things about it, but definitely more good than bad. The good is that this movie delivers both non stop action and suspense with superb cinematography and visual effects. The bad is that it's a rather one sided storyline, but then again haven't all the previous Terminator films been that way? I give this film two thumbs up!

Up is a touching story of an old man who tries to fulfill the lifelong dream of him and his past wife of taking their house to the top of Paradise Falls in South America. After the sad passing of his wife Ellie, Carl Fredricksen becomes a sad and grumpy old man, but while trying to avoid going to a retirement home after making a mistake of clubbing a construction worker over the head with his cane beccause he bumped a truck into his mailbox, Carl decides to inflates thousands of balloons and ties them to the room of his house which carries it up into the air and off on a grand adventure! Little does he know that the junior Wilderness Explorer named Russell has stowed away under his front porch. I liked this movie allot because it shows that you're never too old to start a new adventure in life, and shows really great character development, with Carl going from a sad and selfish old man to learning how to be a considerate and caring individual throughout his journey! As for the graphics and 3D effects, well lets just say that it's another Pixar triumph, that brings this movie right up alongside the likes of Toy Story and Wall-E!

Friday The 13th: Jason Voorhees is rewritten into a much more deadlier adversary than ever before!

If you can forgive the horrible character dialogue and bad acting by the victims and focus on Jason Voorhees as he stalks his prey then you might enjoy this film. Take it for what it is, a slasher killer flick somewhat re-invented version of the first four films combined in one, with a smarter and faster Mr. Voorhees, one that actually anticipates his victims' next moves, sets traps for them or lies in wait. At least this time Jason actually runs after his victims, instead of them running at high speed only to trip over something so that the slow paced killer can catch up. Still all in all Jason seems to have those possessed powers that keep him animated no matter what injuries he sustains, plus his methods of dispatching his victims is just as gory or even more-so than the original films. Heck even the cheap humour is there, for example when one of the victims hands him a hockey stick saying "I think this must be yours", a very cheesy gag but classic none the less :-D My main gripes are that not enough time is focused on Mrs. Voorhees, and the events of Jason drowing at Camp Crystal lake as a child are not shown. They say that Jason is supposed to be shown as more human this time but little is shown of that, with only him admiring his new look when he dons the hockey mask for the first time and when he keeps Whitney locked up in his underground hideaway, possibly for company. On the plus side if it's action you want, this film has it, with many more victims for Jason to hunt down, and an ending that leaves you in suspense, setting things up for a sequel. I give this film four out of five stars.

The Tale Of Despereaux: The Tale Of Despereaux is a cute storybook tale for children, or if you think mice are cute =^.-=

The Tale Of Despereaux follows the story of a young mouseling who doesn't act like your typical mouse at all. Now mice are usually afraid of cats, rats and other scary things, but not young Despereaux. His parents become worried and try to get him disciplined at mouse school. Meanwhile in the kingdom of Dor, where they have a festival of soup, an adventurous rat named Roscuro, ends up falling into a pot of soup, frightening the Queen to death, and as a result all soup is forbidden to be cooked, all rats are banished from the kingdom and the sun refuses to shine. After failing the rehabilitation attempts at turning him into a "proper" mouse, Despereaux is banished into the sewers to meet the fate of being eaten by rats, where he meets up with Roscuro and well to know the rest you'll just have to watch the film =^.-= I found that this film wasn't quite as enjoyable as Ratatouille but it was enjoyable none-the-less. I would highly recommend watching it to kids and adults alike as it will amuse you in the typical silly storybook style. The characters are well animated as far as 3-D animation goes, although it would have been nicer to see a traditional 2-D animated story >.< Something that is sadly lacking these days! I give the movie one and a half thumbs, er paws up! :-D
