last week i picked up the novel by stephanie meyers called twilight. i don't have TV so i hadn't seen any trailers and didn't know that there was a movie coming out, but after finishing the book in a day of solid reading, i was sold. i heard there was a movie coming and got really excited.
however, i was extremely dissapointed. the character development was sorely lacking, and the chemistry between bella and edward was pitiful (i will admit that charlie was the best-played character though). i don't want to nitpick about what was left out and what was added, but there were many details in the novel that carried the story well on its own and it would have done the director well to not leave those out. as i was watching the movie i kept praying that it would get better, but it didn't. i'm usually a sucker for cheesyness, but this movie didn't even have that. i doubt that i would have appreciated it even if i hadn't read the book. were i stephanie meyers, i would be crying right now because of the terrible interpretation of this masterpiece of a novel i had created.
p.s. all you high school girls who screamed and giggled at every move edward made...yes he's hot, but hopefully we haven't stooped so low as to rate an movie completely on the beauty of the actors.
